WELCOME

Dr. Warren's research is on the perception and control of self-motion. He manages the Perception and Control in Low-Attitude flight (PACLAF) facility in the Armstrong Laboratory which is a frequent host to visiting scientists from many countries. In addition to the study of self-motion itself, he is developing a new research methodology called Active Psychophysics. He serves as a National Research Council Post-Doctoral Advisor, and is writing a book on the mathematical and optical foundations of self-motion. The PACLAF facility is designed to enable real-time interactive control of self-motion scenarios. An XTAR high-speed high-resolution board set provides interactive graphics. These appear on an 8 by 6-foot rear-projection screen affording a 90 field of view. Custom software permits easy yet powerful experimenter control and definition of complex flight scenes, flight dynamics, and experimental designs
